Nuance Touchless is the world’s first dimmable aircraft window, controlled without any physical contact. By simply moving the hand upwards, downward or sideways near the window, the user can set desired levels of opacity – not unlike the effect of a Venetian blind.

Also on display will be the ‘Opti-Visor’, a dimmable sun visor for the cockpit. Three buttons (‘+’, ‘-‘ and ‘Auto’) allow the pilot to set an automated visor configuration or to control the tint manually. Opti-Visor operates without any wiring thanks to an integrated rechargeable battery. Furthermore, it is easily removable. Another version has been developed, a self-powered dimmable sun visor, which includes transparent photovoltaic cells integrated into the glazing.

Vision Systems is a world leader in Electronically Dimmable Windows that provide passengers with improved visual and thermal comfort, protecting them from the sun while preserving the view. Based on SPD technology (Suspended Particle Device), they are instantly dimmable from clear to dark to reduce light, glare and heat entering the aircraft.

They also contribute to keep the interior cooler as they block up to 95% of incoming heat, do not produce heat when powered, and are at their darkest possible state when the aircraft is on the ground.

These solutions also block more than 99.9% of UV light which protects the interior from fading, and their multi-layer fabrication allows noise reduction to keep the cabin quieter.

Furthermore, these systems have no moving parts as the electronics is fully integrated, which reduces maintenance costs and downtime.
